On the the 25th of December 2016, field rangers on patrol in the Skukuza section of the Kruger National Park discovered a badly injured rhino female.

After darting her and exploring her wounds and status, the veterinarians could not save her.

Shot in the leg with a high calibre rifle, that shattered her leg bones, the very difficult decision was made to euthanize her and her young orphaned baby was  airlifted to the Skukuza bomas.

She was named Faye meaning confidence, trust, and belief  and in French, fairy. She is a very beautiful rhino and this name suits her well!

Faye was placed with Leo, a strong, handsome rhino male, and the two soon bonded. They are a couple now, and everyone looks forward to the day that the two mate and Faye becomes pregnant!
